風鈴が好きな理由

銀座の街のあちこちで、風鈴が売っていた。思わず立ち止まってその音に聞き入った。
私は江戸風鈴が大好き。風鈴にもいろいろあるけれど、江戸風鈴だけが好きなのだ。

なぜ江戸風鈴にひかれるのか。多分それが、「狙っていないきれいさ」を持っているからだ。
きれいにしようと努力したのではなく、あくまでもそれを使う誰かのことを思って作った結果が「きれい」なのだ。素材がもともと持っている「きれいさ」と、人が純粋に持っている思いの中にある「きれいさ」が、できあがったものをきれいに見せているのが好きなのだと思う。

アートじゃない。デザインじゃない。
そこにはただ、「思いを形にしたもの」があるだけ。

今の自分を見つめなおすきっかけは、こんなところにあるのかもしれない。
揺れる風鈴を見ながら、そんなことを思った。
